SUZIE WANDRAG (WOMAN FIRE FOOD)
BRAAIMASTER | FOODIE | MC
Suzie Wandrag is a celebrated South African braai master known for her vibrant personality, culinary flair, and deep love for traditional fire cooking.
Born and raised in South Africa, Suzie grew up surrounded by the unmistakable aroma of wood smoke and sizzling meat, and her love for braai has been lifelong, but she took it to the next level by founding Women Fire Food four years ago-a platform dedicated to teaching women (and even some eager men!) the art of braaiing and smoking. With almost eight years of smoking experience and decades
of braaiing under her belt, Suzie is the ultimate expert, whether it’s an 8-hour smoked brisket, homemade bacon, pulled pork, ribs, or even a simple steak.
Blending heritage with creativity, Suzie has earned a reputation for transforming simple ingredients into unforgettable feasts. Her signature style combines classic techniques with fresh, modern twists, all while staying true to the spirit of togetherness that defines the South African braai culture.
Beyond the grill, Suzie is a dedicated ambassador for local ingredients and sustainable cooking practices. Whether she’s hosting live demonstrations, collaborating with food brands, or inspiring audiences through media appearances, Suzie brings warmth, authenticity, and a spark of fun to everything she does.
She’s no stranger to the spotlight, having competed in Kokkedoor Vuur en Vlam Season 2 and winning accolades at BBQ competitions, including 1st place for her beef at Gauteng’s Outdoor X in 2024. Suzie is also the proud founder of the Chilli Club South Africa, hosting chilli-eating competitions and crafting her award-winning hot sauce, Donkiebyt, which scooped gold and double gold at the Aurora International Taste Challenge in 2021.
Suzie doesn’t just grill; she brings the fun! From hosting “Ladies Only” braais complete with line dancing, karaoke, and laughter to riding motorbikes with the best of them, Suzie embodies the spirit of adventure and community. She’s on a mission to prove that women can braai just as well-if not better-than anyone else. Through her show, she’ll join forces with other women, sharing their stories, techniques, and recipes while inspiring viewers to grab the tongs and light the fire.
With a butterfly tattoo on her neck and a zest for life, Suzie is ready to bring the heat and redefine what it means to braai!
