Benny Masekwameng is one of South Africa’s most respected homegrown culinary talents, celebrated for both his professional excellence and his deeply authentic personal story. His passion for food began in his mother’s kitchen in Alexandra Township, where she prepared meals for construction workers to supplement the family income. It was here that Benny learned discipline, creativity, and the cultural significance of food, lessons that would define his career.

He formalized his training by graduating in Catering Management from Natal Technikon and went on to build experience across various hospitality roles throughout South Africa. In 2006, Benny joined Southern Sun, where his exceptional natural talent was recognized and nurtured by acclaimed executive chefs, including Kenneth Ngubane and Arnold Stuurman. Through perseverance and mentorship, he rose to the highest levels of a demanding profession.

Benny is widely known as a judge on MasterChef SA, where his credibility, warmth, and high standards have made him a trusted authority on culinary excellence. He regularly represents Southern Sun and South African cuisine at international food festivals, proudly showcasing local flavors on global stages.
